Fire and Ice Rochester Then
Fire and Ice returns to Downtown Rochester this Winter. The festival USED to be a 3-day affair, fireworks on TWO NIGHTS, and an extravaganza of winter activities. This was when the The Downtown Rochester DDA and Oakland County Parks and Recreation partnered to put on one amazing event. Then… OC Parks & Rec got out of the fireworks game (and the partnership as a whole) leaving the DDA to come up with other ideas on a thinner budget. Then came Covid, then a stripped-down version (no fireworks) of the festival came back as the Rochester Frost Festival and featured mostly ice-sculptures. There will be no shuttle in 2026 as there had been in the old Fire & Ice Days
Rochester Fire & Ice Now
Now… the FIREWORKS are BACK (for one night) and so has an expanded list of events and things to do. I doubt we’ll ever see the true glory days of Rochester Fire & Ice again but it’s great to see it improving over the past 5 years.

Rochester Fire & Ice Festival 2026 Info
Fireworks RETURN for 2026 with nearly 40 themed ice sculptures, live ice-carving demos, marshmallow roasting, The Big Bright Light Show, Snowzilla Winter Slide, synthetic ice rink, warming tents with food vendors, the world’s largest snowman bounce house and FIREWORKS on Saturday evening only to close the festival.
2026 Rochester Fire & Ice Festival Dates & Hours
The event will take place Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5p-9p and Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 11a-8p.
The Big Bright Light Show returns to light up the city during the festival with over 1.5 million Christmas lights. You can even take a festive carriage ride to tour the city streets during Fire & Ice.
